Senior Living Holiday Content: The Planning Starts Now

July 17, 2018

senior living holiday content

In today’s 10 minute content marketing update we’re discussing senior living holiday content…

Yep, Christmas in July comes to SCCS again.

That’s because the holidays are a season of year when families reunite. For some, it’s the first time they’ve been together in many months.

Adult children are often surprised by an aging parent’s physical or cognitive decline. Sometimes the changes are small, and other times it’s obvious the senior’s situation is one that must be immediately addressed.

Holiday gatherings also provide a format for sharing concerns and worries about an older loved one’s safety and well-being. Families often use the time together to discuss options and assign follow-up tasks to various family members so a plan can be created.

But you know all that right?

These scenarios play out in cities and towns across the country during the months of November and December. We see spikes in phone calls the week after Thanksgiving, as well as right after Christmas.

In fact, research shows inquiries can spike by as much as 50% during those times.

While families might not be calling during the weeks in between, they are searching for answers and options online.

Do you have content that provides the answers, advice, and guidance they need?

Senior Living Holiday Content that Connects

Let’s think about the topics families are likely searching for during the holidays…

Key phrases such as these are common:

  • Does my mom/dad need assisted living
  • Difference between normal aging and dementia
  • What are the signs a senior needs help at home
  • How do I tell if it’s time for assisted living
  • Options for elderly care
  • How to talk to a parent about assisted living
  • Housing for senior with Alzheimer’s
  • How to find assisted living
  • How to find memory care
  • How much does assisted living cost
  • How much does dementia care cost
  • What should I ask on assisted living visit
  • How to finance senior living
  • Does Medicare pay for assisted living?
  • How to choose a realtor for a senior’s house
  • Tips to visit assisted living community
  • Talking to a parent about moving
  • Sharing caregiving duties with siblings
  • Planning a family meeting

We could keep going, but you get the idea. The list is long, but the idea is specific: how to help families understand our industry and find a solution for a loved one.

So this is your Christmas in July reminder to take time to evaluate, plan, and create senior living holiday content that helps you engage and connect with concerned families.
